Special Needs

Special Needs Policy

GetWise aims to have regard to the DfEE code of Practice on the identification and Assessment of Special Educational Needs, and to provide welcome, and appropriate learning opportunities, for all children.

We provide an environment in which all children are supported to reach their full potential. We work in partnership with parents and other agencies in meeting individual potential needs.

Children with identified special needs are welcomed to GetWise. It is important that consultations take place between the parents/carers, existing support workers and the supervisor. This is to ensure that we put in place whatever is possible to accommodate the child’s special needs.

The supervisor will discuss any concerns the team have about a child with their parents/carers.

If it is agreed with the parents/carers that the appropriate way forward is to contact the Specialist Inclusion Support Service then the Supervisor will obtain the necessary form. The forms will be completed together with the parents.

All staff will all be aware of the child’s specific needs so that the child receives the correct adult time and attention and appropriate equipment if necessary.

All information on children and their families, is kept securely and treated in confidence
